What I discussed with Babangida during my visit to Niger — Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi has revealed the details of his recent meeting with former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.

Obi who shared a series of photos on his X handle on Thursday, said he visited Niger where he had crucial discussion with Babangida.

During the meeting, Obi presented Babangida with an autographed copy of the book Growing Apart, which explores how two nations with similar trajectories, Indonesia and Nigeria, developed in vastly different ways.

“During a previous visit, General Babangida recommended this book to me. I ensured I got an autographed copy from the author and presented it to him yesterday,” Obi said.

On the discussions with the former Head of State, Obi stated, “We spoke extensively about the need for unity, strengthening our security apparatus, and improving the welfare of our people.

“These conversations reaffirm my belief that meaningful progress requires honest dialogue and collective responsibility for the future of our dear country.”

Obi’s visit comes amid ongoing debates on national development and governance, highlighting the importance of engagement between past and present leaders in shaping the country’s future.
